About Us

 

Here at Monty & Mabel fabric is an obsession. We now have thousands of fabrics, and the collection keeps on growing!

 

It all started with these two cheeky girls, Flo & Violet. 

They’ve worn Boden, Frugi & JoJo since they were tiny, and as their hair grew we noticed a lack of co-ordinating, beautiful and age suitable hair accessories for sale. 

 

We started making items to match their favourite outfits and word soon spread, the business has grown from there. 

 

Everything is hand made to order from our studio in the Kent/Surrey Borders. 

The name Monty & Mabel came from our scruffy cairn terrier Monty, and our tabby cat Mabel. 

Monty is no longer with us, but Mabel can often be found curled up under the workbench, or running off with scraps of fabric!

 

Monty & Mabel is run by Claire, with a little help (and patience) from the family. 

We love offering a personalised shopping experience, and when a message comes through with unusual requests or pictures of favourite outfits that need matching we jump at the chance. 

Never one to turn down a challenge, if you have a certain style or fabric you’re after send us a message and we will do our best to source a match. 

 

One of our favourite parts of running Monty & Mabel is to work with designers to produce stunning exclusive fabrics. It also helps to strengthen our brand and keep us unique!

 

We feel very strongly about naming designers of the fabrics we use, after all without them we wouldn’t be here today. 

Monty & Mabel are very lucky to have permission from Boden, JoJo Maman Bebe, Frugi, Belle & Boo, Cath Kidston and Liberty, to use their stunning prints. 

Where possible we love to upcycle preloved clothing.
